Lawrence Reginald Luke Sr. "Pooney" was born on May 15, 1964, in Steubenville, Ohio, and passed away peacefully on March 16, 2022.

He attended Grant and Steubenville "Big Red" High School and was well known for his athletic ability, especially in football. Lawrence Luke was shy but had a heart of gold. He was a protector of his family and the ones he loved.

He was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Ann Luke; grandmother Ann Cunningham; aunt Carol Ann Cunningham; one brother, Michael Payne; and a dear friend loved one Tina "Misty" Hicks.

Lawrence is survived by his father Bill Luke; sisters Monique Luke, Shawntel Luke, Sad'e Luke, Monica Luke, and Shatonya Terry Luke; brothers, Patrick Hicks, Darius Luke, Virgil "Pokey" Sanford, Delmar Cunningham, Delrico Cunningham and Marcus Luke; children Kenyatta Barnes, Helen "GiGi" Edwards, Montyel Barnes, Terri Lynn Hicks, Lauren Luke, Lawrence Hicks, Laura "Koo" Wade, Lawrence Luke Jr., LaShane Luke, LeShawn Luke, Shirley Ann Luke, Devonte Luke, and Haven Luke; 27 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. Rev. Maurice Lawson will deliver the eulogy. Interment will take place on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery, 1720 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, Ohio.
