L. D. (Buddy) Jones, 96, died peacefully on November 23, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery, AL.

He was born in Shiloh, AL to Lovie and Eula Broxton Jones. L.D. had an amazing life. He met the great love of his life, Catherine King and they were united in marriage for 70 years. His legacy includes five children, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He had twelve siblings. His generosity and kind heart were an inspiration. He lived his life with integrity and love for his family.

L.D. was employed by the Weirton Steel Corporation and a member of the 25 year club. He retired after over 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Jones; sons, Eugene (Nan) Jones and James Jones of Weirton, WV; daughters, Mary C. Myers and Gail Jones, of Columbus, Ohio; son-in-law, Robert J. Austin, of Weirton; siblings, Essie Mae Lynch, of Fort Washington, MD, Clarence Jones, of Sebring, FL, Rudolph Jones, of Elba, AL, Ulysses (Marie) Jones, of Wintersville, OH, Willie Pete (Cleo) Jones, of Saginaw, MI, Eloise (William) Curenton, of Weirton, and Linda (Doug) Lane of Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and neighbors.

He is preceded in death by daughter, Peggy Austin; siblings, Irene Gory, Mary Elizabeth Langston, Freddie, Vernon and Bobby Jones; step-mother, Ouida Jones Bullard

Services will begin at 10:00AM Saturday at St. Peters A.M.E. Church. The Rev. Eddie L. McDaniel will officiate. Interment - Paris Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 to 10AM prior to the service.
