IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lewis R.
Titus Jr.
March 31, 1948 – February 5, 2024
Lewis R. Titus, Jr., affectionately known as "Junebug" to his mother and "Jr." to family and friends, began his journey on March 31, 1948, in Wheeling, West Virginia, as the first-born son of the late Lewis and Jewel Titus. He called Wintersville, Ohio, home until his passing on Monday, February 5, 2024. Lewis was preceded in death by his firstborn son, Travis, his younger sibling, Thomas J. Titus, and, most recently, his beloved wife, Jenny Titus.
From a young age, Lewis showcased his athletic prowess, excelling in football and track. His formidable presence on the field earned him the nickname "Tank," as he effortlessly bulldozed through defenders. He played varsity football at "Big Red" High School and continued his football career at Pratt College in Pratt, Kansas, where his exceptional speed and strength were evident with a remarkable time of 10 seconds in the hundred-yard dash, despite his imposing stature of 6'3" and 220 pounds. Beyond athletics, Lewis was a master carpenter and woodworker, renowned for his craftsmanship and creativity. He was also a talented artist, painter, and musician, demonstrating proficiency in playing the base violin and designing unique walking canes. Additionally, he inherited his father's exceptional singing voice, enriching the lives of those around him with his melodious tunes.
Lewis Jr. is survived by his sister, Eva Marie Titus-Bradford (husband, Odis Sr., and their three sons: Odis Jr., Kito, and Yolon) of Ft. Washington, MD; his brother, Harry E. Titus (son, Julian) of Steubenville, Ohio; and his youngest brother, Ramond A. Titus (wife, Karnina, and son, Timothy) of Columbus, Ohio. Lewis also leaves behind his cherished cousins and best friends, Bill and Craig Fields, along with a multitude of relatives and friends who will fondly remember him.
Lewis R. Titus, Jr. leaves behind a legacy of athleticism, creativity, and love that will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his spirit rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who mourn his loss.
