IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Ann
Hines
September 6, 1940 – December 9, 2024
Linda Ann Hines, age 84, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024, at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born on September 6, 1940, in Marion, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Merle Christian and Hilda Harvey.
Rooted in her Methodist faith, Linda attended Simson United Methodist Church in Steubenville until its closing. She was a proud graduate of Steubenville "Big Red" High School and spent several years working as a group home leader, assisting in the care of those in need. Linda found joy in life's simple pleasures—bingo games, the quiet excitement of playing the slot machines, the peaceful pastime of fishing, and a comforting cup of coffee.
She cherished her relationship with the Lord and found solace in gospel music by Rance Allen, drawing special comfort from her favorite hymn, "My Soul Has Been Anchored." Linda's faith informed her perspective and guided her actions throughout her life.
Those who knew Linda best appreciated her honesty and authenticity. She spoke her mind truthfully, without pretense, yet always from a place of genuine love and concern. Her frankness challenged others to embrace their own truths, even as she made it clear that her affection for them remained unwavering.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Rex Hines; her son Merle, her daughter Bonnie and her grandson Oscar. She leaves behind a large and devoted family who will honor her memory forever. Surviving are her children: Eugenia, Tracy, Dean, Terry, Nicole, Barbara, Erin, Eliot, and Langdon; her grandchildren: Shane, Denzel, Amber, Chimere, Roddrey, Brandun, Eric, Shakira, Terry Jr., LaMisty, Lenda, Ebony, Jessica, Brianne, Camiron, Elijah, Malani, Monza, Deandre, Demetria, and Eliot; her siblings: Tyrone, Martha, Pete, Ernie, and Bobby; as well as her special nephew Rodney—whom she considered like a son—along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon, at the Gregory-Martin Chapel, 255 S. 7th Street, Steubenville, Ohio. Evangelist Clarissa Speaker will deliver the eulogy. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family through Linda's online guestbook.
May we remember Linda for her steadfast faith, her forthright spirit, and the love she so readily gave to others.
