IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Malcolm
Zimmerman
September 2, 1993 – March 20, 2025
Malcolm Troy Zimmerman (Treadway) passed away peacefully at home in Steubenville, Ohio, on the morning of March 20, 2025, at the age of 31. He was born on September 2, 1993, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Malcolm Tyrone Treadway and the late Cherie Leigh Brooks (Zimmerman).
Malcolm was preceded in death with love and pride by his mother, Cherie; his maternal grandparents, William Zimmerman Sr. and Mattie Jewell Zimmerman (Smith); and his paternal grandmother, Pamela Jean Combs (Dudley).
A small child of God, Malcolm began his spiritual journey at Second Baptist Church. He was also active in the Quinn AME Church Youth People and a proud member of the Martin Luther King Workshop Choir. Additionally, he served as a dedicated member of the Knights of Pythagoras (KOP) in the state of West Virginia—a Masonic youth organization that fosters leadership and community service among young men.
Malcolm attended Trinity Academy and Harding Middle School in Ohio and later graduated from Weir High School in West Virginia. His hobbies included fishing with family, bowling, middle school basketball, four-wheeling through the woods, skateboarding, traveling (especially as the co-pilot on road trips), swimming, and above all, watching sunsets.
He was known for his incredible work ethic and joyful spirit. His infectious laughter and positive energy brightened every workplace he was part of—Bull Dog Security, Weirton Car Wash, Blue Steel Bowling Alley, Toronto Paper Mill, and Newk's Eatery in Montgomery, Alabama, where he worked for over three years. At Newk's, he wasn't just an essential team member; he was a gentleman whom guests looked forward to seeing and speaking with. His coworkers knew that if Malcolm was on shift, it was going to be a good day.
More than anything, Malcolm cherished being an uncle and "the big cousin," bringing boundless laughter and joy into the lives of the younger ones around him.
Left to carry on his legacy of love are his father, Malcolm Treadway; stepfather, Christopher Brooks Sr. (Deniece); paternal grandfather, Luscious Treadway; and siblings: Brandie Lawrence (Maurice), Christopher Brooks Jr., Nautica Treadway, Ali Treadway, Jordan Brooks, Dimir Treadway, and Lena Treadway. He is also survived by his godfather, Elder Michael Jett (Stacy), along with a host of great-uncles, uncles, aunts, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon at the Gregory-Martin Funeral Chapel, 255 S. 7th Street, Steubenville, Ohio. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery.
