Obituary

McDonald Troy Zimmerman passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2023, at Trinity Medical Center in Steubenville, Ohio. Born on February 1, 1969, he was the son of the late William Sr. and Mattie Jewel (Smith) Zimmerman.

Affectionately known as Mack, McDonald lived a life filled with a profound love for others, always ready to extend a helping hand. His infectious smile lit up every room, leaving a lasting and warm impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. From a young age, Mack's childhood was marked by a passion for matchbox cars, dump trucks, and bulldozers. He also enjoyed building model cars, sled riding in winter, and expressing his creativity through hands-on craftsmanship.

As Mack matured, his enthusiasm for life led him to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boys Scouts, a testament to his dedication and character. He also created cherished memories on the baseball field during his time in little league and junior league.

Mack found solace and peace on the open road, indulging in his love for riding dirt bikes and motorcycles. A graduate of Steubenville Big Red High School with a certification in Auto Mechanics, he embraced a career that allowed him to work with his hands. Throughout his life, Mack took pride in being a member of various unions, including Ironworkers Local Union #549, Concrete Mason Local Union #927, and Teamster Local Union #697.

Marriage blessed Mack with three beautiful children through Kimberly (Derrow) Zimmerman and two stepchildren through his marriage to Kristin (Stingle). Family was at the center of his world, and he took joy in passing on his skills, teaching his daughter the art of handling a rifle, and sharing hunting adventures with loved ones.

Professionally, Mack displayed a diverse skill set as a foreman, operator, mason, and cattle rancher, making a lasting impact in each role. Whether working for Universal LLC, Wolfe Trucking, Pullman Power Co., Concrete Cutting & Breaking, or on a ranch, Mack approached every task with determination and skill.

Beyond his professional life, Mack was a member of The Vultures motorcycle club before becoming an integral part of the Sentinels Motorcycle Club. His passion for motorcycles shone during Bikers Week in Daytona, where he wowed crowds with his riding skills, set speed records on the race track, and earned numerous awards.

Mack's faith played a significant role in his life, culminating in his baptism at the First Christian Church of Martins Ferry Ohio in 2012. He was preceded in death by both his parents, three sisters, and his nephew Robert James Josh Seab Zimmerman.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and life, survived by his children McDonald Troy II, Joseph Travis, MacKenzie Ann, McKayla Martin, and Wyatt Stingle. Also left to cherish his memory are the loving mothers of his children, Kimberly and Kristin; his big brother William (Carmen) Zimmerman Jr.; sisters Betty J. Mallory, Holly Bobbi Ann Zimmerman, Wendy L. Williams, and Monica Brown; his loving companion Anna Washington; uncles Robert E. Smith Sr. and Terrance Elder Sr.; nephews William Zimmerman III, Brandon Williams, Malcolm Zimmerman, Christopher Brooks Jr., and Loren Williams; nieces Brandie (Lawrence) Allen, Courtney Bunch, Erica Pitts, Destiny and Mariah Zimmerman, Mikail Williams, Kourtney, and Diamond Hayes; along with a host of cousins, great-nieces, great-nephew, family, and friends—all of whom hold a deep and enduring love for him.

The public will not be able to access any in-person services. Please convey condolences to the family through Mack's online guestbook. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home.
