Obituary

Millicent Lee Slaughter was born on Thursday, June 8, 1944 on Walnut Street, Wintersville, Ohio, the youngest child of parents Bertha Lauretta Pettis Slaughter and Robert George Slaughter.
She was blessed to have two sisters, Roberta Slaughter Jordan and Rose Marie Slaughter.

She grew up in Silver Stream Knolls, a closely knit neighborhood of caring friends, neighbors and family.

Millicent Slaughter, a graduate of Wintersville High School, received a bachelors of science degree in elementary education from Wilberforce University. She did post-graduate work at Central State University, University of Dayton, Kent State University, and the Franciscan University of Steubenville, and received a masters degree in educational leadership form West Virginia University.

She was a retired elementary teacher from Weir Middle School, Hancock County Schools system, where she taught art and careers.
She served as an instructor for Steubenville School's summer mathematics program. Presently, she was pursuing a doctorate degree in Christian education from Dyer Times Ministries Inc.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist church, where she served in the mass choir, the Rev. Theodore White Scholarship Committee, member of the Deaconess Board, Sunday school teacher, instructor for Vacation Bible School, and past youth leader.

She traveled extensively in the United States, attending the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education, Baptist World Alliance in Cleveland, Ohio and Honolulu, Hawaii, and abroad to Scotland, England, and Zimbabwe, South Africa, attending the World Baptist Youth Conferences.

She was immediate past president of the Ohio Valley District of Colored Womenás Clubs, member of Sojourner Truth Federated Club, past secretary of Ohio Association of Colored Womenás Clubs, member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and worked with Ohio Valley Business and Professional Womenás Club.

Currently, she was the treasurer of Slaughter By Design, a family company jointly operated by her sisters.

Also surviving are nephews Jonathan Jeter, Vincent Jeter, Anthony Jeter (Debra Paul), Aaron Jeter and Bryant Jeter; niece, Ramona Scarborough; great-nephews, Vincent Tyree, Jonathan Carter and Dylan Michael Jeter; great-nieces, Jonae' Carter and Jamonae Scarborough; great-great nieces Jalaya Carter and Aubrey Jeter; God children, Brother Derick Mitchell and Aaliyah Mitchell; adopted son, Benjamin Washington.
