Moses S. Harris went home to be with the LORD, his God, on August 8, 2015 at the age of 84.
He was on born on October 4, 1930 to the late Elder Emanuel Harris Sr. and Rosa Ella Gainous in Alliance, Ohio.
He attended elementary school in Alliance, Ohio and graduated from Steubenville High School in 1948. Moses joined the United States Air Force in 1948 and received an honorable discharge in 1952. After the service, Moses attended the College of Steubenville and gained employment with the Weirton Steel Corporation from which he retired with 33 years of service. Also, Moses was a member of the American Legion Post 274 of Steubenville.
He enjoyed fishing with his buddies and cooking as he was a great cook.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Elder Emanuel Harris Sr. and Rosa Ella Gainous, his sister, Elvira Shropshire, his brother, Henry Tyrone Harris, his son, Moses C. Harris, and his wife, Virginia Lillie-Harris.
He is survived by his longtime companion; Patricia Thornton; Two daughters: Leazaun Thornton and Yvonne Harris of Columbus, Ohio; Five sons: Quent (Lorri) Thornton of Steubenville, Ohio, Dr. Daryl (Targi) Harris of Temple Hill, Maryland; Timothy, Michael, and Derek Harris all of Columbus, Ohio; Five sisters: Martha Ellis of Charlotte, North Carolina, Louise Carter, Rosa Price, Mary Lue Brown and Beatrice Bridges, all of Columbus, Ohio; Three brothers: Elder James Harris, Sr. of Fruitland Park, Florida, Elder Emanuel (Joyce) Harris, Jr. of Miami, Florida, and John Theodore Harris of Columbus, Ohio; One stepson: Brian (Hilary) Thornton of Bedford Heights, Ohio; Two stepdaughters: Chauntal Thornton of Steubenville, Ohio and Stacey (Charles) Wilson of Killeen, Texas ; Thirteen grandchildren; Ten great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
