Nancy Ruth (Jackson) Hunter, 94, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
She was born on October 11, 1930, to the late Harry Jackson and Ivery Irene Jackson.
Nancy was known for her loving spirit and beautiful smile. For more than 30 years, she faithfully served with the Mingo County Board of Education, where she not only nourished students with meals but also filled their hearts with kindness and care, leaving behind treasured memories that will last a lifetime.
A woman of deep faith, Nancy was a longtime member of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she joyfully sang in the Senior Choir and served on the Pastor's Anniversary Committee and kitchen committee. Following its closing, she became a devoted member of Logan Street First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Gerald Dotson.
She was also a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #52, Queen of Esther.
Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Andrew Hunter Sr.; son, James A. Hunter Jr.; daughters, Deborah Kay Hunter, Mary Hunter, Gloria Jean Hunter, and Jeanette Irene Hunter; and sisters, Elizabeth Jeraldine Hunter and Mary Alice Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory six loving daughters: Andrea Mae Brown, Barbara Lynn Phipps, Judith Elaine (Eugene) Thorn, Nancy Jean "Pebbles" Barnes, Theodora Evette Robinson, and adopted daughter Brenda Kay Vickers. She is also survived by her devoted brother, Arthur Carter; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever carry her love in their hearts.
Nancy also shared a special bond with dear friends Marcella Woods-Jones, Juanita Hooks, and Jenny Mae Stacy, who will fondly remember her warmth and companionship.
Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on through all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Logan Street First Baptist Church, 620 Logan Street, Williamson, West Virginia. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens.
