Nellie Hython went home to be with our Lord and Savior on July 21, 2012 quietly at her home.

Nellie was born was born on April 21, 1926. Her father passed away before her birth and she was lovingly raised by her mother Sarah Phillips in Birmingham, Alabama.

She worked many years as a nurse's aide for the Ohio Valley Hospital. She truly enjoyed playing Bingo and loved to play at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Trinity and would even travel to Wheeling to play. Nellie was an excellent cook and her collard greens and fried chicken were a neighborhood favorite.

She was stern yet gentle. She believed in teaching her children the right way, for true value is always in good character. She was in the fraternal organization the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Wilford H. Newton, children; Elaine Steele, Saranell Penn and Jerome Foster, a sister; Mary L. Garcia and one granddaughter; Tammy Lynn Smallwood.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Lawrence and Edmond Newton and Juliette Jeter, a brother; William Jones, many grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, her dog Toby and a host of other relatives and dear friends.
