Otis Brown Jr., of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away in March 20, 2026 at the age of 75.
Born on October 6, 1950, Otis was the son of the late Otis Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Brown. He attended West Liberty University and dedicated many years of hard work to Weirton Steel, where he was employed in the Tin Mill. After retirement, he continued to stay active and later worked as a security guard at Mountaineer Racetrack and Casino.
Otis lived life on his own terms. He enjoyed placing his sports bets, faithfully played his numbers every day, and was a true sports fan. He loved college basketball and proudly cheered for his favorite NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs. More than anything, Otis loved his family. He never missed a chance to show up for his children and grandchildren, attending their sporting events and supporting them every step of the way.
He was known for his strong personality and realness. Otis would give you the shirt off his back, but he would also tell you exactly how he felt. He had a short fuse for foolishness and carried a no-nonsense attitude, yet those who knew him best understood the heart behind it all. Beneath that tough exterior was a gentle soul, especially when it came to his baby girl, his beloved daughter, Marva, who held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willie James McKenzie and Garrett Brown.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children, Marva Jeter and Antwan Brown; his cherished grandchildren, Marquise Jeter, Tavon Jeter, and Jayden Anderson; his sister, Loretta Moss; his lifelong friends who were like brothers, Edward Lee Austin, John Young, Robert Kelly, and Bill Kennedy; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 noon at Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, Steubenville Chapel, 255 South 7th Street, Steubenville, Ohio. Pastor Rudy McAllister will deliver the eulogy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, proudly serving families throughout Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. For more information, please call (304) 797-1400.
