Patricia was a lifelong resident of Steubenville, Ohio. She was a devoted big sister and most of all a devoted mother. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to gospel music. She had a heart of gold and loved to serve; service was her watchword and serving and caring for others was how she lived her life. Her life of service began at the tender age of 14 when she was thrust into the role of caregiver for her younger siblings after the tragic loss of her parents. Ms. Pat, as she was affectionately called, loved, and cared for so many people. Her favorites were little children and dogs. Patricia was a genius in her own way getting straight A's throughout her high school years. She was considered a community humanitarian because she was a willing and frequent giver to the community.
She served her community as a Black Owned Small Business Owner for over 30 years, owning and operating Ms. Pat's Wine Basket. She was the type of lady that would give you the shirt off her back and her last penny too if it would help you along the way. Her life was filled with examples where she would put the needs of others before her own. Patricia loved the Lord and her life was a living testament of her love to serve and care for others. We believe that Mark 10:44 describes her perfectly "And whosoever of you will be the greatest, shall be servant of all." Ms. Patricia Thornton lived her life as a servant to all.
