Peggy Nelson, age 65, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the Laurels of Steubenville Nursing Center. She was born in Steubenville, Ohio, on September 16, 1955, to the union of Lawrence Mitchell and Dorothy Kiefer.

Peggy was a Christian by faith. She was a graduate of Jefferson Local High School. After obtaining her CDL Licence, Peggy pursued a career as a truck driver for many years until her health started to decline. She enjoyed crafting, traveling, and time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; and a granddaughter Averyelle Whatley.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph Hess; one daughter, Stephanie Whatley; grandchildren, Joseph Elder-Mitchell, Lamont Whatley Jr., James Whatley, Willie Whatley, Morgan Mitchell, Pamela Hess, and Joseph Hess; great-grandchildren, Jai'Zein Luke, and Za'Nyla Mitchell; six siblings, Lawrence Jr., Sophie, Dottie, Mary, and Lisa; a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL AND LIFE EVENT CENTER, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio.
