“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
- Matthew 25:23
With grateful hearts and in celebration of a life well lived, the family announces the passing of Reverend Claude Tillery, who peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on August 27, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love of his family.
Reverend Tillery was born on June 21, 1938, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Marcellus and Alice Jones Tillery. He was a proud graduate of The Rayen High School and faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1956 until 1959. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of loyal employment to LTV Steel in Youngstown.
A man of deep faith, unwavering integrity, and a compassionate spirit, Reverend Tillery touched countless lives through his ministry, wisdom, and example. He devoted his life to serving God, loving his family, and encouraging others to walk faithfully with the Lord.
In 1963, he married Barbara A. Tillery, and from their union three children were born. He later married the late Juanita Tillery, with whom he shared many years of love, companionship, and devotion.
Left to celebrate Reverend Tillery’s life and legacy are his beloved children, Adornato Tillery, Danielle Tillery, and Esperonza (Fred) Williams; his treasured grandchildren, Adrien, James, Devonte, Christopher, Shaqualah (John) Bowsman, Alejandro, and Giovanni (Kolleen) Tillery; and fourteen adored great-grandchildren who held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind a loving circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family, and friends who were blessed to know him and will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcellus and Alice Jones Tillery; his sisters, Marcella Phillips and Cardie McKinney; his brothers, Romey Tillery and Tony Tillery; and his beloved wife, Juanita Tillery.
Although his earthly journey has ended, Reverend Tillery’s legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to God will continue to inspire all who knew him. His family rejoices in the assurance that he has been welcomed into eternal glory and now rests in the presence of his Savior.
Calling hours will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, followed by the Homegoing Service at 11:00 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Tabernacle Boulevard, Youngstown, OH.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home.
