Robert Michael Coker, 77, of Steubenville passed away November 30, 2018, at the V.A. Hospital in Aspinwall, PA.

He was born June 8, 1941, in Steubenville to the late Ulysses and Mable Catherine (Nixon) Coker.

Robert was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Steubenville. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic and jungle expert from June 10, 1958 to June 30, 1968. He additionally served as the first president of the Steubenville Vietnam Veterans Group. He was a local police officer for the city of Steubenville, and he worked and retired from the Weirton Steel Co.

Robert was an avid fan of Steubenville Big Red football. He never missed a game until his health declined. He equally enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. Robert was an outdoorsman. He found peace in nature and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Most of all Robert appreciated his family. His love for his wife, children and grandchildren will forever be cherished.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Michael II; a brother, James; and a baby sister, Debra.

Surviving remains his beloved wife of 51 memorable years, Harriett Virginia Coker; and a dear daughter, Natausha (Timothy) Kight; four grandchildren, Teighli, Tylynn, Toney, and Timothy II; two brothers, Rodgers and Ronald Coker; a host of dear relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at noon on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 221 N. 7th St., Steubenville, where Bishop Jermaine V.
