Roxeve Sharreice James was born May 1, 1961, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the union of Jesse and Gwendolyn L. James Jr. On Monday, October 25, 2021, she departed this life in Fayetteville, NC.
Roxeve was a former member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Missionary Church Jr Nursing Gill where she developed a passion to become a Nurse. In 1979, she graduated from Steubenville High School. In 1989, she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Youngstown State University and afterward became a Licensed Registered Nurse. She then was enlisted as an Officer in the United States Army. In 2001 Captain James was honorably discharged. Throughout her military career, Captain James received declarations, medals, badges, and campaign ribbon awards. Roxeve continued working as a GS civilian Labor and Delivery Head Nurse until she transitioned.
Roxeve was an advocate for healthy initiatives within her community to improve the quality of life by promoting healthy lifestyles. She was a compassionate and dedicated professional who enjoyed nurturing positive change and assisting those in need. She volunteered to help others with reading deficiency. She was, in addition, an editor for students in the masters and doctoral programs. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, watching mystery movies, reading, and loved spending time with family and friends.
Roxeve was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Roxeve was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Millard T. and Pearl E. McKinney; paternal grandparents, Jesse James Sr., and Roxie James-Thomas; and a brother, Alphonso (Foe) James.
Her footprints of life will be cherished by her loved ones in their hearts forever. She leaves a legacy of love to her Parents, Jesse & Gwendolyn James Jr of Steubenville, OH; Loving Son, LaShaude (Dorianna) one beautiful granddaughter, Justice James of San Antonio, TX; siblings, Jesse III, Aphynna, and Ret. Army SFC Rodney (Ret. Army SFC Katina) James of Steubenville, OH; Metta James of Raleigh, NC; Dr. Deborah James of Fayetteville, NC; Ret. Army SFC Alicia James of Hephzibah, GA; nieces and Nephews, LaNeé, Jerome (Raquel), Salém, Jessica, Shakoya, Tomara Jr (Tee), Leyah and Rodney Jr.; a great-nephew Kent (KJ); aunts, Betty (James) Peterson, Laura Thomas and host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, 255 S 7th St., Steubenville, OH 43952. Bishop Jermaine V. Moore Sr., will deliver the eulogy.
