Teresa Ann Johnson, 82, of Charleston, West Virginia departed this life on September 5, 2025. She was born October 12, 1942, in Portsmouth, OH to the late Deborah Taylor and Matthew Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Barkley Taylor, Patrick Taylor, Janice "Marcheta" Harris, son: Morris "Bob" Greene and her grandson Brandon Greene.
Teresa "Mom" was a graduate of Garnet Career Center and received numerous certifications as an electrician. She worked for over twenty years and retired from Dupont Chemical Plant in Belle, WV as an electrician as well as retiring from Kanawha County Schools as a "Special Needs" Teacher at various schools. She found her true calling in working with children at the church she loved, Simpson Memorial United Methodist. Mom enjoyed the interaction with the children and sneaking candy to them during service while parents weren't looking.
Teresa "Mom" was a woman of faith, and truly loved and depended on God for her strength. She relied on that strength from time to time heavily throughout her life and never gave up hope that she and her family would be blessed by doing good for others. Mom accepted Christ at a young age in Portsmouth, Ohio at Pleasant Green Baptist Church which she visited anytime she was in town. She enjoyed being an usher at her beloved church home. She was a devoted mother, and loving grandmother, loving sister, aunt and friend to many. Mom enjoyed going on cruises all over the Caribbean by herself or with her children.
Teresa "Mom" is survived by her loving and caring children; John (Maria) San Diego, CA; Trienna, Stacey (Cheryl), Richard (Carol) all of South Charleston WV, Mark (Peggy) of Cross Lanes WV, Cedric (Raquel) of Dunbar WV. Teresa is survived by her siblings; William "Doppy" (Lisa) Taylor, Troy Taylor and Veda Tayor all of Portsmouth, OH.
"Mom" leaves to cherish her memories and legacy of life to not only her children but her grandchildren; Aisiel, John III, Zachary, Chetoya, Teresa Christian, Tiffany, Katrienna, Teresa, Warren, Ricky, Brendan, Markeeya, Tyler, Barry B. and twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and beloved friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Simpson Memorial United Methodist, Charleston, WV with Pastor Carl "Bo" Terrell Sr. officiating.
Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Simpson Memorial United Methodist, Charleston, WV.
