Valerie Lynnette Lawson, age 41, of Baden, PA, went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2019. She was born June 30, 1978, to Clarence and Aretha Lawson at Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville, Ohio.

Valerie was Baptist by faith. She attended Steubenville "Big Red" High School where she excelled in track and basketball. After graduating from SHS, she enrolled at Youngstown State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She was employed at Vision Quest in Franklin, PA, as a teacher and counselor for 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her sister Keri Sims; and one niece, Chequela Lawson.

She is survived by her mothers, Aretha Freemon Lawson, and Barbara Davenport; father, Clarence Lawson and father-figure, Dana Mason; uncles, Rev. Maurice (Trina) Lawson, Nehemiah Freemon; and aunt Gale Lawson; sisters, Kisha Lawson and Yolanda Sims; brother, Kurt Lawson; one nephew, Achili Minch; one niece, Kayla Lawson. She is also survived by special family friends, Barb Gibbons and her best friend, Larissa Dudkiewicz.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019. The visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service, 12 p.m. at Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, 711 South Street in Steubenville, Ohio. Rev. Maurice Lawson will deliver the eulogy of his niece Valerie.
