On May 22, 2023, Victoria Jean Jones, 73, of Steubenville, Ohio, gently departed this life surrounded by her devoted family. She was born on July 17, 1949, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the union of Oscar and Julia Jones. She was affectionately known to those who knew and loved her as Vicki.

She was a 1966 graduate of Steubenville "Big Red" High School. After high school, she served her country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. She was one of the first African American women to serve as a typist during the Vietnam War.

To know Vicki was to love her. She had a giving and kind spirit and would give you the shirt off her back if she saw you in need. She had a no non-sense personality, but if she loved you, she was a rock and a true friend. Her greatest attribute was the way she cared for her family. When her son, Timothy, took ill, she became his primary caregiver.

She will be reunited with in those who left before her in the Glory of God's love, her son, Timothy (her Prince), and her parents, Oscar and Julia.

She leaves here to always cherish her beautiful and gentle spirit, her loving children; Reshawn Lamont Jones and Julia Nicole Jones; her grandchildren Timothy, Eric, Tyler, Armani, Josten, Atrina, NaShell, Brevin, Kayden, and Addison, her great-grandchildren; Tavin Lee, Ella Lee Marie; a Brother Allen (Sac) Prestwood; a sister Mary Anderson; and two special mothering figures Lillian Washington and Birdie Owens; a life-bonded friend James Edwards; bonus daughter Val Carter Edwards; bonus grandchild Carter McMullen; many family and friends that need to be named for their time and generosity and a special thanks to Brenda Ware, Rennie Oldham, Saundra Oldham Malone, Denise Dimarzio, Torchee Robinson, Ruth McCullum, Lisa Gilbert, JoAnne Walters, Alice Gilbert, Patrica Perkins, Cheryl Jean-Pierre, Rodger Shackleford, and Mayola Mills. She also leaves behind a host of other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service, noon, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio.
