Vida Lee Irby Mitchell, 95, of Wintersville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Lancia Villa Nursing Home. She was born March 23, 1928, in Colliers, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Louvenia Irby Glass and Archie "Buster" Woods.

Vida was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and sharing her delicious meals with everyone in her neighborhood. Spending bonding time with her family brought her the greatest joy. She enjoyed playing a good game of Solitary. She would take care of everyone. She met and married the love of her life, Ernest E. Mitchell Sr., and they were married for 47 happy years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Ernest E. Mitchell Sr.; one son Randolph Mitchell Sr.; a granddaughter Nicole L. Jeffries; and one brother Charles A Prentice Sr.

Vida leaves behind two sons Ernest E. Mitchell Jr. and Clarence J. Mitchell Sr., both of Steubenville, Ohio; two daughters Allene F. West of Akron, Ohio, and Lorraine L. Mitchell of Wintersville, Ohio; eleven grandchildren Ginny Elder, Randy Mitchell Jr., Marci Mitchell Douglas, Juan Mitchell Sr., Ernestina Lewis, Everett Mitchell, Rashunna Mitchell, Glenn A. Mitchell, Nikki Walker, and Clarence Mitchell Jr.; a host of great and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Louise Layne of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service, noon, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio; The Elder James Wooden will deliver the eulogy.
