IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vivian R.
Sims
December 1, 1925 – September 12, 2019
Vivian R. (nee Greenlee) Sims, 93, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio transitioned from this earthly life into her heavenly home on September 12, 2019. She was born the eldest of seven children on December 1, 1925, in Bainbridge, Georgia to the union of Lovelace and Corrie (nee Whitaker) Greenlee.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church in Steubenville. Growing up, She sang in various choirs at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Post 315 Auxilary Club. Vivian was an avid bowler. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and was known to keep a shed full of them. Most of all, Vivian embraced her family and was active in anything involving her family. She looked forward to attending family reunions and was proud to be the oldest attending member. Vivian loved being with her family and "family nights" were something she treasured. She traditionally played her two favorite games, Pokeno and Tripoley. Whenever Vivian ran into a relative you could be sure to be asked to, "give me some sugar," which undoubtedly is something we will forever remember. Her tender spirit will be cherished in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings, Lovelace, Jr. and John Greenlee, Virginia Williams, Ida Wade, and Hazel Carney.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory four dear children, Keith (Deborah) Sims, of Austin, Texas; Ronnie Sims, of Williamsburg, Virginia; Vernon (Rosemarie) Sims, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Karen Sutton Sample, of Youngstown, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; a beloved sister Wilma Magee, of Harbor City, California; special nieces and caretakers, Rene (Ricardo) Brown and Leonette (Keith) Murray, all of Steubenville; a host of other relatives and dear friends
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Second Baptist Church, 717 Adams Street in Steubenville from 11 a.m. until her life celebration at 1 p.m. Pastor Marvin E. Barner Jr. will officiate. Vivian will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio.
