WILLIAMS, William Irvin, affectionately called "Uncle Willie," 89, of Weirton, WV, transitioned to be with the Lord August 17, 2015. He was born October 1, 1925 in Wheeling, WV and was the fifth son born to the late Clifford and Piccola Perkins Williams. He was Pastor Emeritus of Apostolic Christian Temple, Washington, PA.
Willie was a 1943 graduate (valedictorian) of Dunbar High School. He faithfully served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He attended college on the GI Bill and earned his bachelor's degree in 1951 from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA. He retired from Weirton Steel where he worked as an Industrial Engineer. Prior to his pastorate, he served as associate minister at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly, Weirton, WV. His passion was pastoring and serving God's flock.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by ten siblings. Clifford Jr, Grace Pitts, Edna Jeter, Johnny B, Samuel (Jacqueline), Geneva Shackleford, Alfonso, Naomi "Nadie" Turner, Nathaniel "Moon", Odessa Jennings.
His survivors include his wife Pauline Marie Ponzo Williams, daughters Brynathyn and Lisa E. Williams, stepmother Mary Williams, siblings MacArthur (Alexanne) and Elmira Harrell-Tucker (Sylvester) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
